Kuzhi Paniyaram
Kuzhi Paniyaram is a snack made in almost all South Indian households. It is easy to make, and uses ingredients that can easily be found at home. A delightful combination of crunchiness on the outside, and soft, melt-in-the-mouth texture inside. You need a Paniyaram pan/mould which is easily available in shops.
Ingredients :
- Idly/Dosa Batter - 2 cups
- Green chillies -1 or 2
- Ginger - small piece
- Curry leaves
- Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
- Chopped onion -1/4 cup
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Oil to fry
- Salt to taste.
Method :
- Take 2 tps of oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds, add curry leaves, chopped ginger, chilly, and onion.
- Fry till the onion becomes translucent.
- Add these to the dosa batter.
- Add coconut and salt and mix well.
- Place the paniyaram mould on the stove, and add oil in each hole.
- Add batter till each hole is 3/4th filled, after the oil is heated.
- Let it get cooked for around 2-3 minutes, and then turn it with a skewer.
- Cook till it becomes golden brown.
- Serve hot with chutney or gunpowder.
